I think my favorite moment was in VMars season 1. From the pilot, I was hooked on this new (to me) actor's presence. But it was when his father's abuse became known and he had to choose the belt. I completely agree. :-)

But I also love to watch how he uses movement of hands (both extravagant and subtle) to convey deep emotion. Or his eyes. Or whatever.

I'd like to see him do big screen romantic comedy leads, as just one example.
