According to the article, Mythological X is written and executive-produced by Diane Ruggiero from Veronica Mars.
Okay, reason enough for me not to watch it. LOL.
So, what does this mean for Moonlight?

Thanks for the information Enibelle and Skyroom, it's depressing that they're announcing new shows while still not giving anything away on the
Moonlihgt front. As Jane said, what does this mean for Moonlight?
I take it that Diane Ruggiero didn't write some of your favourite VM episodes then Jane? |

I take it that Diane Ruggiero didn't write some of your favourite VM episodes then Jane? Actually, she did. And then she co-wrote some of my LEAST favorite ones. Also, I don't know her personally, of course, but what little I do know I don't much care for. In all honesty, I have so many VM after-effects in my system, it'll be a long time before I can step away and look at it phylosophically. I tend to over-react a bit to anything connected with the show these days. Don't mind me. |

So far, I guess it's not determining since Cane, How I met your mother, Moonlight, Shark and The Unit are all on the bubble.
Apparently, Cane is pretty much a goner, so if there are only three new shows, two out of the other four will be saved. I guess there's still hope Josef will continue to grace our tv screens |

Actually, away from Rob Thomas, Diane Ruggiero might be much better ... but then, she apparently was writing for/with Rob on "Big Shots" and did some
crappy, all-we-wound-up-hating about Rob/Diane stuff, so maybe not? But again, that was WITH Rob, so who knows?

There's a new literally bloody campaign in place to save Moonlight, consisting of giving... blood.
Giving blood to save Moonlight |

Uhmm.... This is either a brilliant idea or the creepiest thing I've ever heard. LOL.
Actually, giving blood, whatever the cause, is a good thing, so from that aspect it's actually a much nicer move than bombarding some network offices with indigestibles like peanuts, chocolate bars or bottles of hot sauce. Would it achieve its other goal of saving the show? I doubt it but at least something positive will come out of it regardless. |

Thanks, tubpat. Isn't it wonderful that JD gets his own articles in the mainstream media now?

Ok, I've just realized how much I love my Josef. My heart started beating really fast when I saw new messages on this topic, I feared the show had been
c-worded (oh, tear! moment of the day
Fated to Pretend averaged 8 million viewers, quite a great result considering most shows have seriously lost viewers after they returned from the strike. What does that say? It's all about: MORE JOSEF! And it's so heartwarming to see all the attention JD is getting. It's really awesome, I mean rad! |

Um, hey, it's my first time here but I found some news on the possible future of Moonlight and I thought I'll share
So James Hibberd of Hollywood Reporter/Reuters has that to say about Moonlight's renewal:

Hi mojo86love! Welcome to the board and good to have you here.
Thank you for bringing us this tidbit. It's true that Moonlight doesn't generate the ratings of its lead-in or lead-out. But it really is still doing a lot better than what's running opposite, and, more importantly, it's doing well with the demos. Those all-powerful demos of apparently financially solvent youngsters all the advertisers fight for. LOL. I guess we'll hear very soon. I think the upfronts are coming up, and the announcement will probably be made even before that. |

Welcome mojo86love.
CBS has recently issued a newsletter bragging about being the most watched network and it did mention Moonlight From here: Moonlightfanblog |

Thank you, XiuFang! I agree that it's significant that they included Moonlight.
***** 'Kay, it's crunch time, and things are looking iffy. Sigh. Here's an entry from Nicky Finke, who has all the insight info: Primetime Pilot Panic: 'Moonlight' Not On CBS Fall Schedule But Not Dead; Show Lobbying For Back 13-Episode Order Well, I guess we will know for sure soon enough. It's about the bottom line. Not a shocker, but kind of sad still. It's weird how sad I feel. I kept thinking that I won't care much, but I really do. Fine way to realize you are attached to something! Gah! Since the renewal or cancellation of the show seriously has to do with Jason, I'm moving this to Main now, guys.

It's weird how sad I feel. I kept thinking that I won't care much, but I really do. Fine way to realize you are attached to something! As ambivalent as I've been about this darned show -- I feel sad, too, Jane. There is never enough Josef, the writing is all over the place except where it should be most times, the lore and canon can't seem to keep up with itself, plots introduced then left dangling ... well, I could go on and on. But, still, I keep hoping that the flashes of great TV will morph into a cohesive show. I guess I'm still hoping for that. Since a big part of the problem seems to be who's going to spend more money on the production -- Warner Bros or CBS -- possibly the pissing contest will be resolved? Also, getting a good showrunner and re-tooling the show. Although -- re-tool the show into ... what? It really just needs consistent and better writing (and I know the writing can be there just by looking at the small Jason scenes). As much as the "money" is a problem, I also wonder at CBS ignoring the numbers. The ratings, while not stellar, are still better than acceptable. That gives me hope that this will get worked out. Most importantly, it's a show with Jason and that means we get to see him acting. As bad as the show could ever get -- I'd still be tuning in every week for Jason Dohing's acting. |

As much as the "money" is a problem, I also wonder at CBS ignoring the numbers. The ratings, while not stellar, are still better than acceptable. Yep. So much for their "it's all hinges on the ratings" mantra they kept feeding the fans. Honestly, the numbers are open to interpretation, as always. They did cancel a show in this time slot last year that had better numbers than Moonlight. But-and that's a big one-the all-coveted demos for the said show were pretty bad. And since apparently old people don't matter in TV land, the demos rule the decision-making. Moonlight had been consistently getting good demos and winning its time slot. On a Friday night that is a demo killer. I guess when they said "it's all about the numbers," they meant the amounts the network and the studio would have to shell out? Heh. I am sad. I'm with you on all the problems you've listed that we all know the show has. But I was enjoying it, regardless. For the pure escapist fun it could be, for all things Josef, for an occasional unexpected twist or a joke that made me sit up and notice. I know the network has been ruthlessly firing the writers and the show-runners, but it's not like the writing was ever the strong point of Moonlight. Maybe-if by some miracle the pissing contest turns out well for the show-they can hire better people. I get the financial realities of the (show)business, I'm not the one to shake my fists at any network exec for doing their job. Which is to make money. Period. It's not to entertain, or bring quality to the masses, or educate, or whatever it is that we usually say about good television. The only good television from the networks' standpoint is profitable one. And as bitter as I often feel when something I love gets killed off before its time, I can understand the rational. But the fact remains: I'm a little heartbroken tonight. I know people keep saying that the cancellation is a good thing for Jason. That he would be free to get better roles. I wish I could be this confident, but I'm not. He is not someone who would knock on doors and actively seek those hypothetical opportunities. He is plain and simple not ambitious and not in need of gainful employment. And while his very niceness makes him so appealing, it is also what sometimes stops him from promoting himself as he should. This part was good for him. It had given him wider exposure, it had brought him a good friendship, it had made him happier than we've seen him in a while. It would be wonderful if he were snapped up by some other, better show. Or offered a good role in a good movie or three. But realistically, the odds are not wonderful for any of it, no matter how deserving or talented we know he is. And I am sad we won't get to see him. Maybe for a long time. Not to mention, I've grown quite fond of Josef and I am sad to lose him, too. I'm just profoundly and inconsolably sad. |

Moonlight cancelled
CBS has officially let veteran Moonlight know that it's been cancelled. It was a no-go on a possible 13-back order for mid-season. The only thing I'm devastated about is the fact that Jason might not be on my screen comes next fall. Of course I feel bad for the cast and crew of the show and hope they'll find jobs soon. |

enibelle wrote: This really sucks since Joel Silver told the cast not to book any new work. It would be one thing if the writing was on the wall, then the actors could
start auditioning for things, but they were give (false) hope that the show would be coming back. That's not right.
