Oh, and some more grist for this mill -- someone on my flist is doing some acting on a show or movie with Ryan Hansen and this was posted today: ... the nicest guy of all was Ryan Hansen. Everyone had left and I was still waiting for my ride when he came out side and introduced himself to me and asked me my name (we didn't get to exchange names yesterday because of the schedules) and then I told him how I was still pissed that Veronica Mars was canceled and he goes "FUCK MAN I KNOW!! However, I just signed on to a new Rob Thomas show last week. And it's NOT Cupid or Good Behavior. I'm not really allowed to say anything about it yet!" Source: shazamy.livejournal

And now that I think (instead of being in obsessed fan-crone mode ) -- I had heard about Bobby Cannavale as the lead. In my obsess-mode, I was thinking that the new Cupid might have been re-written with the lead in his late 20's instead of Jeremy Priven's late 30's persona. But, I'm still going to be wondering what's up. Jason has been a bit contradictory. Of course, that could be because he's exploring many different avenues at the moment. I may still hold out some hope for Brothers & Sisters. Maybe they'll reconsider. Interesting about RH possibly being cast in an RT show. As far as I know -- besides Cupid and Good Behavior -- RT still associated with the new 90210. Am thinking Ryan Hansen may be on that? I do hope that this isn't the recurring role for Jason, though. I don't know much about Good Behavior or the NZ original.

Does anyone else remember reading this is in any of the interviews/articles with RT?

I'd rather see him somewhere else as well, but I think he can really do great work with RT and then folks can see what he's really got to offer. This is all academic of course, since as you mentioned even Jason's comments are conflicting. I guess we'll see. There's so much great coverage of the his appearance at Polaris. As far as I remember it was about struggling actors working as waiters or something along those lines, I do remember mention of RH and Ken Marino being linked to it and thinking the show was a good fit for RH, there's been no mention of it for along time though so it could be that that RH is talking about or it could be something totally new. It's definitely not 90210, as Jennifer said, RT is pretty much done with it. With the different statements that Jason has made it's hard to tell what is going on but I think he's probably in the same position, auditioning for different parts and waiting to hear back, he's probably not sure of anything for definite himself. Fingers crossed that he gets something that will give him the exposure and publicity to get the bigger roles. As Stephanierb said he needs to stay in the public eye in and increase his profile, so I'm happy with any quality roles that will show off what he can do.

I really have no illusions about that. You are absolutely right, and it'll take a while before such a luxury could be achieved (if ever, realistically speaking). My "plea" to JD was -- so to speak -- was about staying away from Rob Thomas, not abandoning all television in favor of chasing the impossible. I was commenting on two things he had mentioned in that Q & A, and of the two, I have a preference. But those two aren't his only options, not by a long shot, and the fact that he's going around auditioning tells me he knows it. I don't know what he's auditioning for right now, but I suspect his best bet is to do what he can until pilot season, where perhaps he can land a role on something of quality. Pilot season in terms of auditioning and shooting starts well before the actual pilots are screened and picked for the line-ups, so, quite possibly, now is the time for the 2009 season. I certainly hope that's what at least some of the auditions are for. I'd rather see him somewhere else as well, but I think he can really do great work with RT and then folks can see what he's really got to offer. JD will do great work, given a ghost of a chance, no matter where. I have no doubt that it'll be at least entertaining. As I said before, I know RT is talented and capable of good writing. Quality is not the issue for me. I'd just rather not have to battle myself every time I watch Jason in this hypothetical recurring thing due my to RT-related revulsion. But that's a personal thing. I am far from telling anyone how to feel. Ultimately, whatever gives JD more exposure for his acting is good for him, and I'm on board. And I'll deal with my RT objections for the duration. This, too, shall pass.

I refuse to believe that! They have to invest in new people. And honestly there aren't all that many actors around JD's age that really shine. At least, from what I stand. And JD is a done deal! He started VM as an antagonist and quickly ended up being the most popular male character and male lead. In Moonlight, he had just a small supporting part and he still got the attention of the fans, even rivalling the popularity of the main couple, who had 10 times his air time and publicity. The Ryan Walker casting derby for season three of ABC's Brothers & Sisters (starting Sept. 28) has begun. Yes, William Walker's (Tom Skerritt) real illegitimate spawn-not to be confused with Rebecca (Emily VanCamp), William Walker's fake illegitimate spawn-will be joining the cast later this season. Here's what I can tell you: E! Networks/Comcast Entertainment Group • Ryan is an "All-American golden boy" reminiscent of the Kennedys and/or that football player who sat in the front row of your 10th-grade English class. • If the character works out, he may well become a regular the season after next (season four). • He could begin shooting his part at the beginning of October, which means he'd probably first appear for November sweeps. • Sources tell me that Kitty (Calista Flockhart) will take a road trip to Bakersfield with another main character in hopes of finding the elusive "R" Walker. • We will meet the man who raised Ryan, and who Ryan believes to be his real father. That character will be played by David Andrews. Ryan's biological mother is dead, so we won't have a second Holly on our hands. • We've also heard that Ryan may have something in common with Justin (Dave Annable): drugs. Producers are most likely looking for someone who could pass as both the son of Tom Skerritt and David Andrews, naturally. Knowing how strongly anti-drug he is, and how involved. Then again, he has a very good grasp on separating what's real and what is a character, so. On the possibility side, I don't know what the producers think, but Jason SO can pass for both the son of Tom Skerritt and especially David Andrews. He's got that "look" down pat. We'll see. One mind says, "Yes!!! He's perfect for this role and perfect for this show!" Then the other mind pops in with, "Wait! I thought he was looking for lead roles and that's what I'd love to see." I agree with JaneD that he could very easily be the son of either Tom Skerritt or Dave Andrews. As to playing a drug dealer, I don't think he'd have trouble with that. Not on this show because I'm quite sure there'd be a turn around, what with Justin's (Dave Annable's) history. I looked at all the comments on the story at E! Online and completely agree with this comment: Jason Dohring was made for this role. No one plays Kennedy-esque with a bad boy side like Jason. It seems one out of 3 commenters want to see him in this. With all of that positive stuff, still -- he'd be part of a large ensemble cast, not a lead, and the character probably wouldn't show up until after the new year. Oh, and -- it's all still rumor.

This is precisely why I don't think about this, don't consider it serious, and not worried. Tell me when it happens, if it happens. And I agree: I would much more love to see him as a lead on a new, good show. But that is even less of a reality than this rumor. So, not thinking about it, either. I am just storing up patience and letting him find his next project. I know I'll be there pretty much no matter what that is.

Trust me, if he were to get this ... it would definitely fall more into the "leading role" category than he's played thus far. They have arcs of their characters and ALL take leading man (or leading lady) stage throughout the series. He could get SOOOO much mileage -- press, people seeing him, Emmy buzz, etc. -- it's not even funny. I just can't help but be harkened by the fact that his name pops up A LOT. Yes, by fans and Ausiello, but still every single thing I've read on this brings his name up more than once and I can't believe that TPTB are not aware of at least some of these speculation threads/posts. Obviously, I'd prefer a straight-out leading man role, but this could seriously get his foot in the door if that type of role isn't in the cards for him ... yet.

That said, I hope it's a gig he truly enjoys and has fun with. I'd love to see him as the lead actor in a cool show but I still believe B&S would be a good move too and help those leading roles materialise.
