Actually, he always comes across to me as someone who's craftily saying what they think his audience-of-the-moment would like to hear. I could be wrong, but he just rubs me the wrong way. And it's not simply due to my intence allergy to all things Piss.

So, I feel this requires a bit of translation from Wrongda into Human:

And the acting didn't really do anything to counter whatever aggressive in-your-face-adness needed countering. This character still had all that Hasselhoff-like charm (it's so charming when the joke's on you and you are the only one thinking they are laughing WITH you), but just a lot more under the radar... Or was it under the couch? I can't remember. I know I had charm somewhere ... I think..., but it's gotten under something. So much so, I couldn't find it with a compass and a GPS. But, man, was I charming and way under something standing there in the last scene, looking like the douche I was, with my face covered with bruises from all that in-your-face aggressiveness, sporting crushing realization of defeat and disappointment. Take that, Echolls!


Chris Lowell, ladies and gentlemen! Soon to be seen in Grey's Anatomy spin-off, playing a character -- if such a thing's even possible -- more ridiculous than Piss! Dell The Receptionist with aspirations of a carreer as a Midwife! All while flashing his "I'm-severely-brain-damaged-but-bear-with-me" grin and his moobs. The role that just screams "respect me as an actor!"

That one was actually on my list of things to hate about Veronica in season 3. LOL. But, interestingly enough, I do think it was shown deliberately that way. Something to dawn on her (her self-awareness -- or lack thereof -- being the issue stressed fairly prominently in the last 2 episodes).

The guy had issues with boundaries from the get-go. Ask her out, why don't you, even though you know she's taken. Come up with a lame-ass pretence of a "bowling with the gang" thing in hopes she is dumb enough to buy it (and what do you know?! She is!). Ogle her when she doesn't even notice you are there. That's not at all sleazy. Snort.

That, actually, was the worst thing for me. (Well, that and his passive-aggressive digs at Logan's wealth and demeanor). "Nice guy" my ass. That was cheap, creepy, and downright reprehensible.

And since we are playing, here are my "10 Things I hate about Piz":

10. His name is Stosh Piznarsky. Because Boob McSpazzy was too foreign-sounding. Plus, you can't get a cool nickname that's reminiscent of urination out of that!

9. His hero is Keith Richards. 'Nuff said.

8. His musical tastes range from pretentious to girl-complaint ballads. He is basically one Amy Winehouse CD away from being openly gay.

7. He thinks Karma is the answer to someone spewing sexually explicit and altogether horrifying and humiliating abuse at your girlfriend. Dude, we know you are not a fighter (and, boy, are you NOT much of a lover, as it turned out), but thats just sad.

6. He is one cheap bastard. We get it, youre poor! You had to work for your toys! Your MP3 player was embarrassingly not cool enough! Youre traumatized for life! But must you stress every effing time you have a conversation with anyone just how poor you are? And, worse still, must you be so gleeful about bargain-basement prices? Lets see, youre trying to impress this girl youre obsessed with and stealthily steal her from her boyfriend. Maybe its not the best idea to tell her, while inviting her out for some bowling, that you are only doing that because its the cheap night at the Alley and the tickets are 2 for 1. And its certainly not advisable to follow that up by jumping at the excitement of scoring a record for only a dollar. It doesnt make you look thrifty, it makes you look like a tight-wad.

5. He insists on his romantic obsession to the extreme of "forsaking all others!" Yet he doesnt seem to know anything of substance about the object of that obsession. Certainly not her character, her aspirations, what she is capable of, how she truly feels about anything, what motivates her, her past, her fears, and her dreams. And thats after stalking her for a year and sharing a room with her best friend. I get that he is 19 and all that fortune cookie wisdom about "not settling for something not good, just because its something" is simply a horny teenaged dude talking out of his ass in an attempt to get into the girls pants. But honestly, is he really THAT inapt and unobservant?

4. Speaking of unobservant: the guy has no idea how to read people. None! To a remarkable degree. He is spazzy and chirpy when Veronica, Mac and Wallace stare at him in gloom and annoyance. He completely misinterprets Veronicas signals. On many occasions, even when she verbalizes said signals. He cant conduct a decent panel and/or interview at his radio gig, and he sure as hell cant avoid being taken advantage of and fooled by thieves, visiting has-been rockers, the girl he crushes on, his radio guests and probably a 2-year-old-baby, if a baby were so inclined.

3. Everything out of his mouth is a clich. A clich punctuated by gleeful annunciation as if to say "look how clever but disarmingly simple I am!" Urgh.

2. Probably not his fault, but that persistent pre-season Anti-Logan slogan has done him no favors in my eyes.

1. He is not Logan. He is not Anti-Logan, either. That would have been somewhat interesting to see. He is a non-entity, with personality traits too random to make a whole, with annoying assorted qualities that beg to be recognized as goofily charming but only succeed in being laughable or grating. In the end, after all the hype, the interviewing, the cutesy promos and bru-ha-ha, Piz is nothing but Non-Logan. Thats his main function. He is "Veronica Mars"s version of "The Others." Some entity thats not like our main hero. And it doesnt much signify what it is. Its there to be a foil. We get that, and its fine, but even a foil could have used a personality. As it turned out, being proclaimed an Anti-Logan is not a character, its not a distinction, its just a void.
